Understanding Short Term Drug and Alcohol Treatment in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina

Short term drug and alcohol rehab is one of the more successful types of substance abuse rehab. In particular, it may prove appropriate for people in North Wilkesboro who are unable to participate in a long-term treatment program.

Although, there are numerous factors you should look into while deciding on the treatment center you are thinking about attending. The three major factors are effectiveness/success rates, cost, and time.

Since no universal recovery plan will work for all addicts, you will have some treatment options to choose from depending on your specific needs and preferences. One of these options is short term drug and alcohol rehab.

In most cases, short term rehabilitation will have you reside within the recovery center for a couple of weeks or so. These programs are similar to long-term treatment programs but they last quite a bit shorter yet at the same time making sure that you receive the attention, support, and monitoring to ensure you stay sober.

In particular, short term rehabilitation will range in duration from 14 days to about 6 weeks. During this time, you may participate in individual and group therapy and counseling while you also continue learning effective life skills that will allow you to effectively handle any tempting situation you may experience as opposed to resorting to substance abuse.

In most cases, short term rehab in North Wilkesboro, NC. will begin with detoxification. The duration of the program will largely depend on the dose and frequency of your addiction as well as the length of time you have been using.

After you are done with detox, the short term treatment facility will use other methods of treatment depending on your individual needs and requirements. For instance, treatment may use 12-step meetings and group counseling to allow you to take advantage of peer support. These treatment components may help hold you accountable as you work through your addiction.

Other forms of treatment that might be available in short term rehabilitation include:

  • Acupuncture
  • Art therapy
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Group counseling
  • Individual counseling
  • Medication
  • Nature therapy
  • Treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions like anxiety and depression
  • Yoga

All these recovery techniques can be performed to help shape your way of thinking, prevent you from drug use, and show you ways to make healthier decisions so that you don't relapse. You could also discover new coping strategies and help you to reduce anxiety, so you do not feel you have to resort to drugs.
