Understanding Short Term Drug and Alcohol Treatment in Laurel Springs, North Carolina

Short term drug and alcohol treatment is among the successful forms of addiction rehab. In particular, it might be beneficial for clients in Laurel Springs who are unable to attend a long-term rehabilitation program.

Yet, there are many things you need to consider while selecting the treatment program you are going to attend. The three major factors are effectiveness/success rates, cost, and program duration.

Since no universal recovery plan will work for everyone, you will have several options to pick from subject to your particular needs and preferences. One of these options is short term drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

In many instances, short term rehab will have you live within the recovery program for a few weeks. These types of programs are similar to long-term addiction treatment except they are much shorter in duration while making sure that you obtain the attention, support, and monitoring to make sure you stay sober.

In particular, short term treatment will vary in duration from 2 - 6 weeks. During this time, you will participate in individual and group counseling even as you start discovering effective life skills and recovery tools that will help you to effectively handle any problematic situation you may run into as opposed to getting high or drunk.

Typically, short term drug rehab in Laurel Springs, NC. will begin with medically managed detox. The duration of the program will largely depend on the dose and frequency of your substance abuse as well as for how long you have been abusing drugs or alcohol.

After you are done with detox, the treatment facility will perform other types of treatment tailored to your particular needs. For example, treatment might use the 12 step method to allow you to take advantage of peer support. These treatments may help hold you accountable as you work through your recovery.

Other forms of treatment that might be available in short term rehab include:

  • Art therapy
  • Acupuncture
  • Group counseling
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Individual counseling
  • Nature therapy
  • Medication
  • Yoga
  • Treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions like anxiety and depression

All these treatment methods may be offered to help modify your behavior, prevent you from continued drug use, and show you ways to make positive choices so that you do not fall back into substance abuse. You could also learn new coping methods and improve your relaxation, so you do not feel you have to resort to drugs.
