Do I Need Long Term Drug and Alcohol Treatment in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas?

What is an addictive or psychoactive drug? An addictive or psychoactive drug is a substance such as heroin, crack, meth, norco, sonata, morphine etc... that acts predominantly upon the central nervous system where it changes brain activity, which causes temporary changes in awareness, mood, consciousness and behavior. Psychoactive drugs also alter the personalities of the people that use them and these changes in personality and behavior are usually very negative and undesirable. When a person initially uses an addictive substance they typically feel a false sense of euphoria brought on by the drug. When ingested regularly for an extended amount of time the person will become addicted to the substance. Addiction can cause a horrific affliction in a persons life. Nobody purposefully tries to create this nightmare, known as addiction, for themselves, instead the individual was simply ignorant of the harmful repercussions where they could only see the pleasure it seemed to produce in the beginning and they thought it would stay like that.

Fortunately there is help for those in Poughkeepsie, Arkansas struggling with drug or alcohol addiction. A chronic addiction requires a long term inpatient rehabilitation program. Addiction is a problem that can be resolved but it's not handled overnight. The most successful approach to treat alcohol and drug addiction today is long term residential treatment. Recovery Centers of Arkansas has a rich history with strong foundations in the recovery community of central Arkansas. The first Alcoholics Anonymous group in Arkansas and the oldest AA group west of the Mississippi River initially incorporated in the 1950's, as the Twenty-Four Hour Club and later as Addiction Treatment Centers, for the purpose of purchasing a facility in Little Rock to offer treatment for alcohol abuse. A need was shortly thereafter identified to have a similar facility on the north side of the river. Twelve people, incorporating as Riverbend Recovery Centers, donated $100 each for a down payment on a building and property located at the current site in North Little Rock. Operating under separate articles of incorporation, the two facilities each expanded, offering treatment to both men and women and to include substance abuse treatment in general rather than just alcohol addiction.
