Since the 1970s, the team at the Vera French Community Mental Health Center has grown from 12 to 27 full-time positions. They are complemented by more than 50 volunteers who believe in the ability of the health center to help people with mental health challenges. - Today, the center has also expanded in its programming. This is because it now offers drug and alcohol abuse treatment services, community support programming targeted at people diagnosed with mental illness, halfway house services, and residential care. - Since the 1990s, the center has been working with community and government agencies to address the shortage of low-income housing that is affordable in the local community. This is due to the need for most people struggling with mental illness to be able to be accommodated in such houses while also accessing the support services provided by the agency. - It also offers mental health services through a broad range of networks. Further, the Vera French Community Mental Health Center provides consultation and educational services, emergency services, partial hospitalization programs, day treatment programs, and outpatient treatment.
