Nystrom & Associates, Ltd. Co-Occurring Treatment Programs are licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services under Rule 31 and are supported by our Rule 29 mental health multidisciplinary staff. We treat chemical dependency and mental health diagnoses with an integrated approach. Our programs are designed for individuals experiencing the personal impact and negative consequences from alcohol or drug use. Consequences often result in personal dissatisfaction, negative impact on relationships with family and friends, poor performance in school or on the job, and legal consequences. Additionally, people may suffer from specific emotional problems such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, or other mental diagnoses. We understand the relationship between substance dependence and emotional and mental health issues, and offer integrated treatment in order to address both dimensions. Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselors, Mental Health Professionals, and Mental Health Practitioners work as a team to help patients work through complex problems and develop a strong recovery plan. Prior to treatment admission, a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor completes a Rule 25 chemical dependency assessment to determine the impact the use of substances is having in one's life and make recommendations for the appropriate level of care. This CD assessment process includes routine screening for co-occurring conditions. Patients enrolled in our program as a result of their CD assessment will also complete a mental health assessment to determine any areas of need. Our programs serve a wide spectrum of co-occurring needs. Each patient entering treatment will work with their assigned counselor to determine the core areas they wish to focus on in treatment and develop an individualized treatment plan to assist the patient in reaching their goals. Treatment programming for adults and adolescents utilizes an evidence-based, interactive curriculum that is easy to use and understand. Core programming also utilizes Motivational Interviewing, focus on Integrated Treatment, Stage Wise Treatment strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills education, and 12 step explorations. These strategies are delivered through interactive journaling, group sessions, educational lectures and guest speakers, and weekly individual counseling sessions. A strong collaborative relationship with our Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services and Professional Family Based Division programs offers eligible patients access to services to assist them in stabilizing their recovery environment in their home or community. All patients have ready access to a number of other in-house services to enhance their treatment and encourage continuity of care including: psychological testing, mental health therapy, psychiatry, family therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and nutrition counseling services.
