The mission of the United Hospital Center is to provide quality behavioral health services to people who have acute and chronic psychiatric disabilities, intellectual/developmental disabilities, substance abuse problems and to people who are in crisis in an effort to assist in the achievement of their fullest potential where there is a service need within the state of West Virginia and to the extent that they are economically capable. - The day support program at the center is committed to providing a supportive, flexible treatment program for individuals living with chronic mental illness, whose quality of life and level of functioning would be negatively impacted without structured, on-going skill maintenance and/or enhancement activities. - Its programs are intended to assist individuals diagnosed with a severe and persistent psychiatric disorder to develop and maintain the capacities required for successful community living. - CFT services at the United Hospital Center also emphasize community-based activities designed to prevent relapse, monitor and manage psychiatric symptoms and to maintain and/or enhance emotional, cognitive and social functioning.
