1997: Prototypes works with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to operate the Community Prisoner Mother Program (CPMP). The goal of CPMP is to provide a safe, stable and stimulating environment for women currently serving time in California's prison system. Focused on early child/parent bonding, the program allows mothers who are pregnant or who have children under the age of 6 to serve their sentence at Prototypes. The program reunites mothers with their child(ren) and prevents the separation of mothers from their infants and young children at birth, while promoting family bonding and strengthening.
