The VA provides a continuum of forward-looking outpatient, residential, and inpatient mental health services across the country. Points of access to care span VA medical centers, Community Based Outpatient Clinics, Vet Centers, and mobile Vet Centers. In addition, VA has integrated mental health care into primary care settings, where Veterans are routinely screened for many mental health conditions. VA offers treatments in a variety of settings, including: Short-term, inpatient care; Outpatient care in a psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery centers (PRRC); Regular outpatient care, which may include telemedicine services; Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (RRTP); Primary care; Residential care; and Supported work settings. Examples of common mental health treatments for Veterans include: Treatments for Depression and Anxiety, Treatments for Substance Use Disorders (SUD), Treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Treatments for Serious Mental Illnesses (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder & Bipolar Disorder).
