Hunter Health Clinic
Wichita, KS. 67214
Hunter Health was founded in 1976. Vernon Dyer, a Prairie Band Potawatomie OB/GYN physician, opened the clinic in response to the overwhelming need for culturally appropriate healthcare services for Urban Indians. The clinic started in a back room at the Mid-American All Indian Center, but demand for services grew so rapidly among Wichita Native American community that the clinic moved to a larger location in 1978 and incorporated in 1980 as the Wichita Urban Indian Health Center.
