Brandon man charged in connection with drug raid in Wisconsin

A 21-year-old Brandon man who was arrested Friday in connection with a large drug arrest in Winnebago County was charged in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court on Tuesday.

Adam M. Laning was charged with conspiracy to commit the crime of possessing marijuana with intent to deliver. Laning is free after posting his $500 cash bail.

Laning allegedly attempted to purchase one pound of high-grade marijuana Friday night from an informant working with the Lake Winnebago Area MEG unit. The exchange was arranged for $4,100 at Kwik Trip, 1123 W. Johnson St., according to police reports.

The informant was one of two Oshkosh men who were arrested earlier that day by MEG authorities in one of the largest marijuana operations in the Fox Valley, according to police reports. MEG authorities seized 327 marijuana plants, along with other drugs and an automatic assault rifle from the residences of the 22- and 24-year-old Oshkosh men, according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

Laning called the informant when he arrived at the gas station to purchase the drugs. After surveillance officers identified Laning’s vehicle, Laning and an 18-year-old passenger from Eldorado were taken into custody for questioning, according to the report.

Investigators recovered $4,100 from Laning’s pants pocket, according to the report.

The male passenger was cited for underage drinking and possession of marijuana after investigators found a small amount of the drug in the vehicle, according to the report. He was later released.
