Facts
The length of stay in a holistic rehab differs from center to center. The average length of stay is between four to six weeks, with the longer length of stay producing slightly better results. This should not be a surprise as a study done by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (N.I.D.A.) many years ago stated that the longer a patient remains in a holistic drug or alcohol rehab the better their chance of remaining drug and alcohol free. PCP became available through the drug culture in the late 1960s, referred as "PeaCePill", commonly sold as "angel dust", "crystal" or "hog", on the illicit market in powder, tablet, leaf mixture, and 1 gram "rock" crystal forms, usually taken orally, by smoking, snorting, or intravenous injection. Among eighth-grade students surveyed, Hispanics have the highest rates of use of a number of illegal drugs, including marijuana, crack, cocaine, heroin, and tranquilizers. Drivers are also subject to certain sanctions under this policy, such as prohibiting or limiting the convict's use of a motor vehicle for a determined amount of time. Vehicle sanctions were put into effect due to the high number of drunk drivers who continue to drive after their licenses have been suspended. License suspension is the most common penalty for DUI offenders in all 50 states, but the number of accidents involving drivers with suspended licenses continues to be of concern. |
Drug Abuse
Drug abuse is defined as the chronic or habitual use of any chemical substance to alter states of body or mind for other than medically warranted purposes. Drug abuse is a problem which has an effect on people of all income levels,
ages, and stations in life. Quite often the last person to see that there is a
problem is the drug abuser them self. Every year, more and more people become
drug addicts in their pursuit to get "high".
Detox
Detox is necessary when an individual through their chronic use of drugs or alcohol has developed an addiction. The objective of detox is to help the individual achieve a drug and alcohol free state. Detox is intended to relieve the physical symptoms of withdrawal and helps prepare the individual for entry into drug rehabilitation. Therefore, the ultimate goal of detox is preparation for long term recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Addiction Treatment
Addiction treatment is needed when an individual finds that they have developed a drug or alcohol addiction which they are not able to successful end on their own. With the help of addiction treatment, addicted individual can get help to control their drug taking behavior and live happy and successful lives. There are several addiction treatment options available for drug and alcohol addiction. Some of these options include self-help groups, counseling, drug rehabilitation programs (in and out-patient), and residential treatment facilities. Each of these differ
in their aims and outcomes and elements of these addiction treatment options are often
combined.
Intervention
An intervention is when a group of loved ones and/or a trained intervention counselor meets with the person in need of help for the purpose of breaking down their denial and motivating them to immediately seek drug addiction treatment. Often, individuals in the midst of drug addiction engage in a variety of self destructive behaviors. Although baffling to friends and family members such people generally either aren't aware on a conscious level that they have a drug addiction problem, or even when they know they have a problem they may cling to the false belief that the problem will somehow go away without any outside help. When an intervention is held a moment of clarity is created
for the addict. Most people struggling with the problem of drug or alcohol
addiction will accept help the very day of the intervention.
Drug Rehabilitation
Drug rehabilitation is a place or program that an individual enters to treat a drug or alcohol addiction. Through therapy and education, the individual is restored to their former non-drug using self. They are then able to re-enter society clean and sober. There are many reasons why a person would need to attend a drug rehabilitation program. Some of the many reasons are: the inability to control their drinking or drug use, alienating their friends and family, problems with the law, and problems at work. Also, there are several different types of drug rehabilitation programs available: inpatient, outpatient, residential, short-term, and long-term.
